Up and over the hill behind my house is a small place called Burwick. The road is winding, mostly on the far side, as I imagine it followed sheep tracks in bygone days. It seems to take a while to walk as you're watching every step on the large loose gravel stones. My photographic attempts were thwarted by the wind which was almost a gale and I couldn't stand steady. Here are my only two successes and are complete opposites in composition. The sky and sea were an exquisite blue.

The outlying areas of Scalloway are really picturesque. This particular area is called Uradale where there is the organic Uradale Farm and organic Uradale Yarn. I've been there many times but there's always something to point my camera towards even though it seems not much has changed. The key is seeing differently. (Click on red for Uradale websites). In Shetland there are many hand built wooden boats called yoals. These days they are used for rowing or fishing competitions or simply pleasure. They are well built and sea worthy. Like other small boats in Shetland, they can be moored off in calmer summer months, and in winter are usually hauled up far enough to escape the inclement conditions. For no particular reason I decided to try a still life image. Something I haven't done for quite a long time. The dried poppy pods and orange slices were ones I bought from a great shop in the UK called Daisy Shop. Here's a link if anyone wants to have a look. They're service is great and this is my second order from them. Now for the result.......
