An unusually calm day for us at this time of year. I love fishing boats and these blue ones are beautiful and a nice contrast to the sun setting on the hills behind.

I so enjoyed showing the apples around the pier that I decided they might like to visit the local Scalloway Castle too. Much to my surprise they were very well behaved and I managed some nice shots. There was a visiting couple from Manchester in the castle. The man was sporting a nice camera and asked if he could photograph the apples too. I said he could, of course. Photographer's block can be quite frustrating especially in a small place like Shetland. Not being much of a traveller I'm constantly looking for new ideas nearer to home. So, what else can you do but buy some apples and head for the pier and hope that inspiration follows on closely. Here's a little slideshow of my efforts. I love crows. Every movement of the head seems to show another aspect of their character. This day it was raining but they still came looking for food. I don't disappoint them as it means they get fed and I get to shoot them. :-)
The fact that it is so windy in Shetland I'm sure accounts for the fact that monbretia seems to be popping up everywhere in the wild. I'm so pleased about it as it is such a beautiful colour and graces the grass verges. I used a slow shutter speed to capture the movement of them blowing in the wind.
