On a clear day, in the right location, we can see the familiar peaks of the island of Foula just off the coastline of Shetland. A fictional film was made about it 1937. The film is the story of the depopulation of one of the isolated outer islands of Scotland as, one by one, the younger generation leaves for the greater opportunities offered by the mainland, making it harder to follow the old ways of life there. I couldn't find the film on the internet but here is a link to a written article about Foula on the BBC website. (Click Here) I hope this documentary is still available to view.
