I suffered from depression for twelve years. Help came not in medication, alternative remedies, different therapies, or counselling etc. Although all those slow and expensive means were tried, nothing brought relief or cure. One night I asked God to remove the depression as I had tried everything I knew. He did. Overnight. In the morning I was free and all praise goes to the Father. Here is a poem I wrote about it. It didn't happen all at once. The darkness within Increased moment by moment until The years of oppression And imprisoned thoughts Had engulfed my very soul. My spirit, too, was silenced And I, unable to make My longings heard, Retreated further Into the gloom which Was my life. There had to be a light There HAD to be. There's always a light for the darkness However small. And in one desperate. searching moment I found it! The connection was so close It was part of myself. It was my silent voice And only One could hear it. The only One who can hear thoughts Brought light to my spirit, Brought light to my soul, Brought light to my life. How speedily He came To change my darkened night time Into glorious morning. So bright was His light I find myself A decade later Still shining. ©Anne Macdonald

I heard the light thud of a package on the floor being left by the postman. I went to the door to pick it up and noticed that the postman was temporarily new. What took my attention was his mass of curly hair so I waited until he had delivered the neighbour's mail and called to him as he came down the driveway. "I love your hair", I said. He shook his mass of dancing curls, laughed, and said, "I didn't know I had it. I've always had short hair until now".
He was so jovial and nice that I thought about him a few times during the day. I also began to think of what he had said about his hair.....he didn't know he had it. Faith is like that. God has so much to offer and Jesus died so we could have everything and have it in abundance. We just have to have the faith to believe it's ours now otherwise there was no point in the Cross. Don't let it be that Jesus suffered for nothing. Strengthen your faith by reading the Word. You will be amazed at what you have been doing without. Just remember the postman with the bouncing curly hair and see how your faith looks. You will know what you can have by faith when you begin to grow it. One of the most endearing paragraphs I have read is the introduction in Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. It goes like this:

Praise is the best protection for your heart and mind. The enemy can't find your heart when it's hidden in heavenly places. Archives
