A video just released on Fair Isle knitting, textiles, art and other crafts produced in Shetland. Lovely to see children learning to knit Fair Isle too.

Metal music is certainly a genre I have never listened to but, sometimes a group comes along with something different to their usual style. Someone posted this video on Facebook and I was totally hooked on the song and the singer. It's Leprous with 'Alleviate'. It reminds me of when Disturbed recorded 'Sound of Silence'. Easily the best version of that song by a thousand miles and David Draiman's voice is rich and would draw you in against your will. Bet they had to practice that a few times. 😀 Even though there's plenty of food out, including on the ground, it would seem that, where one starling goes for food, they all go and it gets a bit noisy and aggressive. Well, I guess they are a bit peckish. I've posted this small video under my Random Stuff heading but there's nothing random about rain in Shetland. Almost an every day occurrence. Hope I've made rain look nice. Of course, why not! Just a couple of curtain poles, some string and off you go!
Click and check out this blog post. Maybe I should have said PS22 and Andy Grammer. Either way I can't stop playing this beautiful music video. Those voices! In English 'The Hillswick Wedding'. A folk tale told admirably by Shetlander Marjolein Robertson. Although I found this quite a sad story I really enjoyed it and have listened to it twice. Have saved it to listen for a third time.
A 'trow' in the story is a 'troll'. www.mixcloud.com/BBCShetland/shetland-storytelling-the-hilswick-wedding-tale/ Just found this video of our local and only town of Lerwick. Very well produced and informative with good historical value. The title of this post comes from one of the comments below the video. I found the comment sweet and amusing. Really worth watching and shows Lerwick at its best on a lovely summers day. Makes me want to visit and I live here. 😀 My friend, Elizabeth Atia, is ace at cooking and baking. She has her own blog called Elizabeth's Kitchen Diary - Food and Travel Blog. There's a link to her blog on my main page or here. Below is a video of the making of a Triple Lamb Crown, with Chris Wright (butcher) Elizabeth and guests in the Bod of Nesbister, Shetland. Beautifully filmed by Keiba Clubb. The Bod also provides self catering accommodation. Link to Bod of Nesbister. |
